Bone metastases may mimic other diseases that involve the skeleton. There are several methods of detection and monitoring for bone metastases.

ZOMETA can significantly reduce or delay bone complications from multiple myeloma or bone metastases from prostate, lung, breast or other solid tumors.

In multiple myeloma, however, the source of the cancer resides in the bone—unlike solid tumors that metastasize to the bone. Therefore, the etiology and pathology of multiple myeloma―as well as various chemotherapy treatments for multiple myeloma―may deteriorate healthy bone and cause increased morbidity and bone fragility.
